Our Cornish Family Farm

Our family-run farm in the heart of Cornwall

We are nestled in the countryside in central Cornwall and over-the-hill from the dramatic North Cornish coast. The Parker family have been running the farm at Callestick for three generations, steadily growing the Callestick Farm Ice Cream brand into a nationally known name.

Our Story

Happy, healthy cows produce the best quality milk

As with all UK dairy farms, the welfare of our cows is our highest priority. To show our dedication, the farm is Red Tractor approved and checked annually by official inspectors to ensure our herd and farm is run to the highest standards possible.

Our herd roam the pastures at Callestick Farm and return to the dairy only once a day for milking. We currently have over 380 cows producing 3,500 litres per year. This shift to a more extensive farming system provides us with better quality milk, a more relaxed way of life for the cow and also reduces our carbon footprint per litre of milk.

Keeping our sustainable promise

Our farm in the heart of Cornwall isn't home to just our large herd. It also hosts wildlife, from field mice and shrews to a wide range of insects and birds. We ensure to leave a fenced margin around all of our fields so that neither we, nor our cows disturb the hedgerows!

The farm surrounds the Ventongimps Moor nature reserve, a 20 acre mosaic of heath, woodland and wetland ponds, noted for dragon and damselflies. It has been designated a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) for several decades and is carefully managed by Cornwall Wildlife Trust. It sits close to the Chyverton and Five Acre reserves which are also managed by CWT.

To combat our impact on the land, in 2014 we installed a biomass boiler which uses wood chippings from trees felled on site. This along side the many solar panels on our farm buildings powers the farm house, factory, offices, ice cream parlour and farm buildings.

Sebastian Parker, Managing Director

“My grandmother bought Callestick Farm in 1935, my father started farming here in 1953, and now we have the 3rd generation running the business, with the 4th generation product tasting every day!!”

Angela Parker, Founding Director

“Over the past 35+ years, one of my many roles has been creating exciting new flavours for Callestick Farm. To have these flavours recognised by awarding bodies such as the Guild of Fine Food has been an exciting part of creating champion Cornish ice cream”

Ben Parker, Operations Director

“As so much of our way of life relies on our environment, making the farm sustainable and environmentally friendly was a no brainer.”
