Our Cows
Our animals are at the heart of everything we do here at Callestick Farm. We recognise that it is the healthiest and happiest cows that produce the best quality milk for our ice cream and so we do everything in our power to pamper their socks off.
The cows roam the pastures at Callestick Farm for as long as the weather is fine. Contrary to popular belief, cows are delicate-souls and do not take kindly to being left out in the rain, so they happily take shelter in the gloomier months.
Our cows are milked twice a day, in a 16:16 herringbone parlour. The milk is pumped through pipes into the dairy and then on into our ice cream factory.
Like all farms, Callestick adheres to strict codes of practise when it comes to animal husbandry and we are a member of the FABBL farm assurance scheme. FABBL undertakes regular checks to ensure the animals are looked after to the highest possible standard.

The Land
Callestick Farm is made up of a pattern of small fields of mostly pasture. Some forage crops are also grown and harvested for the cows to eat through the Winter months. The thick Cornish hedgerows that form the boundaries provide a wonderful habitat for small mammals, insects and ground nesting birds and we deliberately leave a margin around the headlands of the fields so as not to disturb the resident wildlife.
All our water comes from our own spring that naturally bubbles up on our farm.
It is important to us that we practise good land management in just the same way as the generations before us. This not only produces the best possible milk, but also is important in sustaining healthy biodiversity and protecting the beautiful Cornish landscape that we are so lucky to nestle in amongst.

Green Credentials
Here at Callestick Farm we recognise the importance of sustainability – to us it means simply doing the right thing and is a natural progression of our core values. Our environmental policy touches on everything we do; from the energy efficiency of our factory, the management of our farming systems to reducing the environmental impact of our delivery vehicles. Our environmental policy is revisited frequently and we are always considering new ideas to improve and reduce our overall impact on the environment. Meet the Family
Callestick has been farmed for generations by our family and we have been making ice cream here for 20 years.
There is certainly plenty of work to be done at Callestick Farm to create such delicious ice cream and three generations of the Parker's roll up their sleeves each day to make it happen!
